Things become critical while living with family especially when you really dont have job in your hand and searching or hunting jobs which is not an easy cake, the market is much competitive as it used to be, and sometimes economy affairs boost the openings scarcity. Whether you are an engineering graduate or else a law student, Job searching can be a nightmare if you havent followed few tips carefully if you followed these tips you will not loosing anything infact will give an extra edge in searching process rather than a tradtional one followed by normal student and at last you will land up with your dream jobs that you have always thought of.
Is resume everything?
Not really trends are bit off in india, being an indian i would rather say, in india resume has percentage but not to a greater extent, while if you are working overseas then resume would be taking up the place, things are very simple, Just put yourself in place of employeer, Employer gets almost thousands of resumes on daily basis out which he has to filter the best one that matches the requirement. It takes too much time in shortlisting candidates rather than interviewing.
While researches says that employer rejects the maximum number of applicants resume just because they aren’t from valid field and applied unknowingly about the position. While Others get rejected just because of poorly design format and incomplete or improfessional data.
Professional Resume – The First step to ladder
Designed yourself or get it done with your father,seniors or resume making agency, but count my words this is the most important part in whole process and to stayaway from throwaway that employer follows after looking at CVs. Make it to the point,precise and appealing. Do not mention unecessary things on resume untill and unless require. best way to track is – going through the job responsbilites and requirements and making resume accordingly.
Employer says – It feels boring reading resume
Now why this came in mind of employeer its just because you made your resume too long, you filled every space with irrelvant information. Being such a tedious job to find the best one, it is just impossible to read such CVs which is a time consuming process and believe me employer time is very important and has to do other regular office work apart from participating in recruitment campagin. So what can be done is the next question.keep it simple and short , too the point, requirement focused CV that actually minimize the employeer searching time.
Resume Shortlisted – Not getting call?
the first reason could be you got shortlisted accidently, and the second potential reason is, employer missed out the important part of your resume which is relevant field expereince. For example you are an Transmission Engineer in Telecommunication but the Eletrical Engineering also has Transmission Engineer Profile which deals with electricity. It is not good idea to make several resumes at times and play around with them depending upon the requirements,just think of second step is interview and you have to justify yourself on resume. Keep it straightforward list out things you know remove things you dont know. A CV filled with hell lot of information can trouble you in interview.
No Achievements in Life – Are achievements important?
It is always better to add 1-2 achievements in your resume instead ofleaving this space empty, bragging so many achievements that you have got from nursery to professonal life is not a good idea. You mention only those things which has helped you to do better in professional life. At the same time do not mention achievements unnecassary untill and unless you really got it.IF you are the one among those who has no achievements in life, then also dont be dark hearted, you can still mention social achievements that you got in your life which helped you to do better for example – ” my biggest achievement was the day when my father said, i am proud of you son”.
Bottom line of the story is , employer will spend pretty amount of time with you while shortlisting resume to intervewing and would be analyzing the resume carefully.If you have made it putting lot of efforts then it would reflect and employer will think that you will follow the same while being in work, which is like a reward point for you.
