If you are a Facebook user then I need not tell you how important the privacy settings are for you. I come across a lot of people who are worried about their safety in cyberspace but they do not take the necessary precautionary measures as they are unaware of them. Also since there have been some changes in the privacy settings in the past week, there has been a little confusion in the minds of the users. So, here are the Facebook Privacy Settings for everyone.
Setting 1: Regulating the visibility of your Friendlist
This is the most important privacy setting in my view. There are different groups in which you can add your friends and it is necessary that you understand this. You can now add a friend in more than one friend list and each friend list can have different privacy settings. So what are you waiting for hide facebook friends list from everyone now.
Setting 2: Quit being shown on the Facebook Search Results
This is another setting that you must have in case you don’t want to be troubled by people who like to send request randomly just by checking out the display picture. There are two settings that are present now and that is you can be found in the search results made by certain people while you will not be visible to the others. To use this, you need to go to the privacy settings and click on the Edit Settings and then enter your password. You will get the “Facebook Search Results” and once you are here you need to click on the “Only Friends” option and make the necessary changes. hide yourself in facebook searches is must have settings for those are want their network separate and reserve
Setting 3: Quit being displayed in the Google Search results
This is something that you will love to do in case you are some celebrity and do not want fans to search you out on Google. This does make sense if you are one of those private people who want their profile to be only for close ones. To activate this setting you need to go the Privacy settings page and uncheck the box in front of the “Public Search Results”.
Setting 4: Don’t let people tag you in photos
Getting tagged in silly photos can be very embarrassing and there is a way to avoid this. You need to go to the “Profile privacy settings” page and then you need click on the “Photos and Videos of me” option. Once here, you need to click on the “Only me option” and from the onwards all the photos that you have been tagged in will be visible only to you. Disable photo tagging facebook option today itself to get rid out of spamming events.
Setting 5: Protect your Albums
This is something that everyone wants to know about. If you are worried about the privacy of the pictures that you upload, then you need to go to the privacy settings and the least you can do is to keep your album open only to your friends. You can also hide your pictures from certain people in your friend list.
Setting 6: Save yourself from the frequently changing relationship status on Facebook
If you are fed up with a friend who keeps changing her/his relationship status every 30 minutes, then you have an option of avoiding them altogether, and in case you have a relationship status that you do not want everyone to know about then you can go to the “Privacy settings” page and change the “Family and Relationship” option to “Only Me”. Now your relationship status will be visible only to you.
Setting 7: Control the information that can be accessed by the applications that you use
This is necessary so that there are no posts published on you or the app uses a picture from your album and shares it. You need to be very careful about the information that the apps can access or there may be a breach in your safety on the site.
Setting 8: Hide your contact information
You may not want all the people in your friend list to have your personal contact information which includes email and personal telephone numbers. For this you have the option of limiting the people who see this information. You need to go to the “Contacts privacy settings” page and you can limit to visibility of the information to whatever extent you want.
Setting 9: Save yourself from the weird wall posts
If you have official contacts in your profile and do not want them to see some of the zany wall posts that your friends make, then you can stop your friends from posting something on your wall by going to the privacy settings page either uncheck the “Friends may post to my wall”. If you do not want to do this, then you can control the visibility of the posts made by friends.
Setting 10: Don’t let anyone know who you are friends with
This is the best thing to do, in my view. You can keep your friendships private and not let anyone know who all you are friends with. For this you need to uncheck the box that says ”Show my friends on my profile”.
These are the Facebook privacy settings for everyone that you are sure going to need in case you want to make full use of your profile, but not at the cost of your privacy.
