About ISEET Entrance Exam
The commencement of the Indian Science Engineering Eligibility Test (ISEET) is one of the biggest steps that will be taken by the Human Resource Development Ministry of India. This test will replace the two most reputed examinations for engineering aspirants, that is the ISEET and the IIT JEE and the AIEEE. The exam will be held in January 2013 and the it will be similar to the SATs. The exam will make the students eligible to enter the IITs and NITs of the country.
Pattern of the ISEET paper
There will be two papers that the examinee will have to appear for. One is the ISEET Main and the second is the ISEET advance.
The ISEET main is will test the candidate in areas of logical reasoning, critical thinking and Reading Comprehensions. The duration of the paper is three hours and the paper carries 30% weightage of the total marks.
Next is the ISEET Advance paper, that is also a three hour long paper and will be held on the same day as the ISEET Mains paper. In this, the candidate will be tested on his/her problem solving ability in the basic science subjects and you need 30% in the this paper as well, to clear it.
What else will be taken into consideration?
Apart from the scores of the ISEET, the percentage that the student manages to score in Class 12th will be given weightage.
The institutes are left to decide how much weightage they give to ISEET scores so that the student is eligible to get admission in the institute.
Presently, the wieghtage has been decided as follows.
- Board examination result weightage = 40%
- ISEET Main weightage = 30%
- ISEEET Advance weightage = 30%
This is what will be followed by the various IITs and NITs that are present. The other institutes are left to choose the weightage according to their norms.
ISEET Exam sparks up a storm
The decision to come out with a combined examination for the IIT and the AIEEE has been met with resistance by many officials, parents and students as they feel that the student will not be able to cope with the increase of the subjects and the students will get pressurized by the change in the pattern of the paper. The Human Resource Department seems to be unphased by this is and is all set to make this examination official in the coming year.
Number of students to appear for the examination
As the students of both the categories that is the IIT and the AIEEE will be combined to give this paper, as the paper itself has been replaced by the two examinations, that is AIEEE and IIT, the students appearing for the ISEET exam is expected to be very high.
It is expected that a minimum of 12 lac students will appear for the exam in 2013. Also, in case the state level engineering examinations are replaced by the ISEET, the number of students appearing for the exam will further increase.
The caretaker of the exams
The examination is supposed to be held by the CBSE and it has been proposed that the setting of the papers of the ISEET be handed over to the IIT.
As the examination is going to be held in the 2013 for the first time, it needs to be seen how tough the paper is, and how well it is received by the students and parents. This is all about ISEET exam, everything that has been made official by the Government of India, till now.
