There are many ways to get into a bank job these days, and one of the easiest ways is by getting a job as a bank clerk. I do know that this is the lowest step in the ladder and you will have to work your way up in case you are one of those ambitious people who always dream of being on top. But you know that there are internal promotions that happen regularly and you can choose to go that way and slowly work your way up to the managerial position. This is a good a plan in case you are not very familiar about what a bank job entails and thus starting right from the beginning is a sensible idea.
What is the SBI clerk recruitment exam all about?
The SBI clerk recruitment exam enables the candidates to get jobs as clerks in the various branches of SBI and the other banks that are connected to it. These banks include the State Bank of Jaipur, State Bank of Travancore, State Bank of Hyderabad etc.
The requirements of the examination are much lesser than that of the Probationary Officer examination and thus, it is good for people who are looking to earn faster.
Areas for testing in the SBI clerk recruitment exam
The main subjects on which the candidates are tested in the clerk recruitment exam are as follows:
General Awareness
General English
Quantitative Aptitude
Reasoning Ability
Marketing
Pre requisites to be eligible for the examination
The pre-requisites for being eligible for the SBI clerk recruitment examination are not as stringent as the PO exam.
They are:
The candidate who is appearing for the examination must not be below 18 years of age, nor must he/she above the age of 28.
The candidate must have passed the Class 12th examination and must have attained 60% marks in the same, in case they belong to the general category and 55% in case they belong to the reserves classes.
They are also eligible in case they have got a graduation degree from a university that is recognized by the Government of India.
Pattern of the paper
This is very much similar to the Bank PO examination paper that is conducted by SBI. There are two rounds which the candidate needs to clear to get the job with the bank. The first is the written test that is based on the subjects that I have mentioned above. Once the candidate clears that examination he/she is called for the personal interview. If the person fits the job profile he/she is offered the job.
There is negative marking in the objective portion of the paper and for every wrong answer 1/4th mark of the question is deducted. This is done to ensure that there is no guesswork that is made by students who are attempting the paper.
The paper is known to be pretty simple provided the students have been preparing for it, well in advance. This is the long and short of the SBI clerk recruitment exam. You can apply for it online after finding out the dates on which it will be held, online.
